Betty Bradstreet Arts Education Awards

In August 2005, the Betty Bradstreet Assistance Fund was established through an endowed gift from the Emma R. Showman Trust.   Betty Bradstreet was a founding member and past president of the Assistance League of Tulsa and one of its most inspiring and gracious members.  Upon Betty’s death, her dear friend, Emma, wished to establish a lasting tribute to Mrs. Bradstreet.  In recognition of Betty’s lifelong love of art and music, the board of Assistance League® Tulsa designated the future proceeds from the trust be used to fund Betty Bradstreet Arts Education Awards to foster the love of fine arts in students for generations to come.

Betty Bradstreet Arts Education awards provide monetary support of classroom projects for Tulsa County Fine Arts public school teachers in grades Pre-K through 12th grade.  Examples of past awards have included purchases of musical instruments for orchestras, costumes and set designs for theater performances and small- and large-scale art exhibit supplies.   Since its inception, Betty Bradstreet Arts Education Awards have invested nearly $1,000,000 in Fine Arts education in the Tulsa community.

Eligibility for award consideration includes:

  • Teacher of Fine Arts curriculum, grades pre-K through 12th
  • Public school district, residing within Tulsa area
  • Application submitted to bettybradstreet@altulsa.org by October 6, 2025
  • Only one award per teacher will be granted per school year

A selection committee of Assistance League Tulsa volunteers review the applications and provide as many awards as current year funding will allow.   Partial awards may be given.   Following the granting of the award, committee members visit each recipient’s classroom to observe how the monies have benefitted the students.
